Registered Respiratory Therapist

Job Description

The Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for the pulmonary care of critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under the direction of a physician. This role involves performing patient assessments and instituting respiratory care plans, along with executing various technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures throughout the hospital.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency situations (Code Blue and White)
• Manage airways, including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning
• Deliver aerosolized medication and manage ventilators
• Support with oral hygiene and airway management devices (BiPAP, CPAP)
• Utilize oxygen delivery devices and conduct therapeutic monitoring
• Analyze chest films and perform blood gas collection and analysis
• Conduct EKG analysis and maintain accurate documentation
• Participate in CAP and JC surveys
• Function as Shift Leader or Team Leader as necessary
• Engage in advanced practice skills such as therapeutic gas management and pulmonary function testing

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 1 - 3 years of relevant experience preferred
• RT or RCP License in the state of NM required
• BLS certification (AHA only) required
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification by NBRC required

Schedule

This position operates on a night shift, specifically from 7 PM to 7 AM.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
