Chavira's in Las Cruces, NM is looking for one grill cook to join our 34 person strong team. We are located on 5702 Bataan Memorial E C3 5420 Strange Rd. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, punctual, and reliable.
Job Title: Grill Cook
Reports To: Kitchen Manager
Summary:
The Grill Cook specializes in managing the grilling station.
The following duties are essential but not limited to:
· Operates grilling equipment to cook meats, vegetables, and other foods according to desired specifications.
· Observes and tests foods being cooked by tasting, smelling, and piercing with a fork to determine that it is cooked.
· Carves meats and portions food on serving plates, adds sauces, and garnishes servings to fill orders.
· Monitors food stocks and places orders as necessary.
· Coordinates with the kitchen team to ensure timely preparation and delivery of each dish.
· Ensures that each dish served meets quality standards.
· Maintains cleanliness and sanitation at the grill station by following food safety standards.
· Assists in the development of new dishes and menus.
· Handles, prepares, and stores food properly to avoid spoilage and ensure guest safety.
· Arranges prepared food on serving trays or in designated areas for retrieval by serving staff.
· Cleans, sanitizes, and maintains cleanliness of work areas, surfaces, utensils, equipment, and dishes.
· Adheres to all food handling and safety regulations throughout the kitchen and restaurant.
· Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory:
This position does not oversee staff.

Education/Experience
Prior kitchen experience preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
